Wow. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, you guys. I was so, so, so sick. Jamie got a stomach bug on Monday (we believe from daycare, although Ez has yet to get it KNOCK ON WOOD) and then I came down with it on Tuesday. Triple digit fevers sucked, but I did manage to drop seven pounds overnight. Yeah. It was that bad.So this was my view yesterday. The bed. It's all I've got.Today I am up and about and back at my desk, working furiously to catch up on the work time I lost yesterday. And what am I most grateful for today? Popcicles. Delicious, refreshing popcicles.
Friday wedding! Yup, this is what I was up to today, and kids, nothing wears me out like a wedding. NOTHING. So I'm off to bed. Congrats to Emily and Nathan up there! Now I'mma go get some sleep.
I don't know how things look around your neighborhood, but around mine, everything is blooming and open and lovely. I pass by a million of these on my walks with Magda each day, and they just keep getting bigger and bigger. For your internet share of the day, these photos of the planet from above are SPECTACULAR. I especially love the flower fields in Amsterdam. And if that's not enough, here is a full trailer for the new Bond movie. It looks all over the place and maybe a bit sloppy to me, but you bet I'm still gonna see it. With giant popcorn to boot.
Today I got to have coffee with my amazing buddy Leah. We decided to meet up early (8:30) so that we could get on with our days afterward. We talked and talked and talked and talked -- since we'd seen each other last, there have been several vacations, family health issues and home renovations. And then I looked at the clock and it was ELEVEN. Yeah. So we had to skeedaddle outta there and get back to work and such. But such a wonderful start to the day.For your internet share, I want to eat these popsicles immediately. Actually, I want to get some molds so I can even make them myself! And wouldn't they pair nicely with this burger? Yum. And lastly, as if popsicles and burgers aren't summery enough, how about this list of free music and movies in Minneapolis next month? So much fun!
Lovely, eh? I spotted this girl the other night in Northeast Minneapolis. Even I, who rides a bike only once or twice a summer, am quite infatuated by this beauty. For your internet share of the day, try not to smile as you watch this dog in a field. And if you want to know what your cleaning lady thinks, this is a fascinating read. Also, special thanks to the wonderful Margaret for both of those finds. She's like the best internet detective out there.
How fun is this little one? This was one of my outtakes from earlier in the week (at the toothbrush shoot). I just couldn't forget about this wink, so I thought I would share it.It's Friday! I have a date tonight! And fun weekend plans! And I've gotten 7-8 hours of continuous sleep each night this week! So, in general, life is great right now.For your internet share of the day, this puppy swarm sums up my emotions pretty well right now. But if that doesn't make you smile (are you even human?!), this burly man raising two deer fawns will. I promise.
Welcome to one of my very favorite spots in town. This morning, I met with a former colleague to talk about life as a freelancer as I sipped on an amazing cafe au lait. Also? Next door is an amazing, teeny tiny black building with lime green doors that I fantasize about someday moving Shuttersmack HQ into.Don't get your hopes up. It is pure fantasy... but the space is the right size, it has a wall of windows for natural light... and it's right next door to my favorite coffee spot. Should I win the lottery, I will not only buy up all the light fixtures I showed you yesterday, but I might move in next door to Bull Run. These are my dreams. For your internet shares today, this recipe has me finally willing to buy a spiralizer. Seriously, I am pretty anti-kitchen-gadget, but this dish looks amazing... Second, I am enjoying the hell out of this new music. Third, how fun would it be to live here? I seriously covet that floor. And lastly, this came out when I was in Kansas and missed it, but holy cow batman, let's all use this facial recognition software to find lost dogs, shall we?
I got out for my walk with Magda today (and Mere joined me! Fantastic!) and the air was THICK. The humidity here the last few weeks is rivaling that of Miami -- which is no good at all. But then, once we were inside, and I was back at my desk working, I heard it. The thrumming of heavy rain on the roof. A quick look out the window confirmed sheets and sheets of rain pouring down. Oh, how I love these midday storms. For your internet share of the day, I'm sending you over to my latest pinterest board on lighting. I'm looking for a piece to replace my dining room chandelier that came with the house (Home Depot circa 2003). I love all of these, and many of them were first spotted at that amazing house I was photographing a few days ago. Oh, how I would love to update my light fixtures. But I might need to win the lottery first... Which are your favorites?
