the lovely courtnay
0203courtnaysm.jpg

0203courtnaysmEzra and I met up with the lovely Courtnay this morning to celebrate her birthday a bit early. I got her that hat -- isn't it adorable!?! Magda has been trying to eat it ever since I brought it home... I am pretty sure it was the feathers she wanted. But alas, she was thwarted and now Courtnay looks just as stylish as Lady Mary! For your internet share of the day, this made my heart melt.

view from today's office
0130downtownsm.jpg

0130downtownsmToday I had a shoot at an office that sits on the 20th floor of a building downtown. The space faces east, so this is their view. You can see the Mississippi River between the buildings and the lovely 3rd Ave bridge -- I love how it curves over the water. I also love how on really cold days you can see all the exhaust pluming up from the buildings (today was not a "really cold day" -- it was in the teens when I shot this). What I did *not* take a photo of today was the poor bunny rabbit that was disemboweled in my driveway by a hawk. Fun fact: the hawk only took the heart and lungs (I thought the bird would take the whole rabbit). The rest of the innards were still there (or frozen to the concrete) surrounding his furry little corpse. Poor little guy. I put him to rest (in a box in the trash). In our household, there are certain Man Duties. Remember, I'm from Kansas, which is close to The South, and my mom raised me in the regard that men take out the trash, and poor Jamie hates this about me. But! I make up for it whenever a furry creature meets its maker around our house and I dispose of the body. I've handled baby bunnies, squirrels, birds, mice, possums and today's bunny. I'm making up for this trash business, I'm certain. For your internet share of the day, I loved this theory on what really happened between Adnan and Jay of Serial fame. Also, how about some kick ass nacho recipes for Sunday's game, eh? I got you covered.

thai red curry meatballs
0129meatballssm.jpg

0129meatballssmSee?! I told you there would still be food around these parts! My Man had a New Year's Resolution to make a spankin' new recipe once a month. And he'd cook it. For me. I love this idea.So this month's recipe was Thai red curry meatballs -- sounds delicious, right? He based it on this recipe here.01293meatballssmWe altered it a bit by, um, forgetting to add the cilantro (don't do that -- please add the cilantro) and by switching the lemongrass out for a handful of fresh basil that we threw in at the end. Overall, it was a pretty solid recipe! Honestly, I think I'd just do the whole thing but skip the meatballs and use sauteed shrimp instead (easier and lighter). But this right here was a nice, rich dish for winter.10292meatballssmFor your internet share of the day, this made me laugh at my desk. I love the whimsy that I find on the internet. And speaking of whimsy, as I type this I can hear my husband singing falsetto to the kid down in the kitchen. Sometimes parenthood is rad.

sweet waffles
0128wafflessm.jpg

0128wafflessmThis is Waffles, whom you've met before. I was over at Zeus Jones today working on some photos and meeting about some upcoming projects, and this girl here was super excited to see me. Until she realized I forgot to bring dog treats. Then I got this mopey (but adorable) look. Dang I love this pup so much! And speaking of pups... I need some help from you out there in Minneapolis! I have an upcoming project where I need to photograph a dog and a cat together. Like, snuggling or eating together or something. So, they need to LIKE each other. If you have such a rare pair of animals (or know of anyone who does) please, please, please shoot me an email. I promise this project will be SUPER fun! And your animal might get national exposure! But finding the right talent is proving a touch difficult, and I would love your input. For your internet share of the day, this might be my favorite bit of advice I've read about being a parent. I think it would also hold true even if I were not a parent. And the best gem in there is number eleven. But I also like number eight a lot.

all hands
0127allhandssm.jpg

0127allhandssmThis morning Ezra woke up in a delightful mood, so I decided to take him out to the donut shop to meet some rappers. Doomtree released their newest album today, and they were traveling all over town to promote the record. Glamdoll donuts here had special All Hands treats (that's the name of the album) and this was just one of a few scenes there. Did I get photos of my kid meeting rappers? You bet I did. You'll have to wait for next week's Monday at the Madhouse to see them though :)For your internet share today, I'm sending you to one of my favorite bloggers. I have never met this woman, but I relate on so many levels. And today she made me cry.But if you want something lighter, I meant to link to this yesterday -- it's photos of Josh Hartnett's Minneapolis home that's for sale! Yeah, not at ALL what I thought!

more cooper
19w.jpg

19wI know I already blogged about the fabulous Cooper earlier this week, but I finally finished the take, and I wanted to show you more of this charmer. Partly because he's a pit bull and I think they get a bad rap and it's fun to see such a sweetie represent the breed and partly because today has consisted of an amazingly cranky baby and nobody needs to see photos of that.Jamie and I have a babysitter tonight, and I thought maybe *that* would provide a nice photo, but to be honest at this point I am fantasizing about just parking our car in a dark garage and sleeping while we have someone else watch the kid. Yes. I am THAT sleep deprived at the moment. For your internet share of the day, this made me laugh. I don't know why, but I thought immediately: Mob member.05w 07w 14w  23w18w

getting adjusted
0121plantssm.jpg

0121plantssmToday I had my appointment with Therese, and man-oh-man was that needed. I hadn't been in for an adjustment since... November? Yeah. I feel much better (to say the least). When I first arrived, I was admiring how her Christmas Cactus is still in bloom, and then I shot this image because it's how most Minnesotans' windows look right  now -- any plant that you might want to save from outdoors is brought inside and set in front of a window. Until May. At least.I know many of my own windows are crowded by plant life right now as well. For your internet share of the day, I love how this video shows you how filters can change the mood of film (just like your instagram shots). I am such a nerd for this stuff!
