meet cooper!
0120coopersm.jpg

0120coopersmHow handsome is this guy, eh? Don't you just love those little black spots on the pink skin by his nose? Adorable! This is Cooper and I was lucky enough to photograph him this weekend at his parent's gorgeous home. Seriously, it was like the folks over at The Bachelor Farmer had redecorated -- just spectacular. And this guy Coop? Such a doll.I'm working on the processing of these shots today and this week, so I thought I'd give you a sneak peek. And for your internet share of the day, I love this tutorial on making your own fabulous scarves (no knitting! no sewing!).

rock'n'roll art opening
0116rocksm.jpg

0116rocksmTonight was the opening for the Rock'n'Roll photo exhibit at the Minneapolis Photo Center. There were some *amazing* photos on display, and I was pretty honored to have my own work included in the bunch. And you know what else? It was PACKED. Which was also so fun! I saw a ton of friends at the show (some photographers, many not) and special thanks to those of you who came out to support my work -- I really appreciate it!For your internet share today, this is why I was never in a sorority. Clearly, my hair is not up to par (both wavy and a color "not found in nature"). I won't even talk about my fingernails.

my other boy
0115merlinsm.jpg

0115merlinsmThere's my guy. Merlin here had a rough weekend -- or rather his digestive tract did. It seems that the stress of us leaving town these days mucks up his system, so we'll be staying in Minneapolis for a while now. This poor guy has been in recovery since our return, and today he seemed to turn a corner, following me around the house, asking to go outside to enjoy the "warm" 36-degree-weather and repeatedly meeting me at the door when I returned from errands.I know I've said this before, but aging pets are so tough. So much worry and indecisiveness and just hoping that you're making the right calls regarding their life.On a more uplifting note, I have three great internet shares today. First off, I love seeing this kitchen remodel -- it's a small kitchen and something that many more of us can relate to than something you see on HGTV. Second, I love this "choose your own adventure" game on Twitter. And third, should things go south with Merlin, I'll be eating a ton of this.

this cat sums up my day
0114chippysm.jpg

0114chippysmOh kids, today was rough. I witnessed a pretty scary head-on car collision on my way to an appointment that I was already late to (and that cat up there? Chippy? He was waiting for my arrival and was quite perplexed by Ezra). The rest of the day was pretty rushed from one appointment to the next and ended with a ticket for more than $100 because... uh... I forgot to pay and register for my 2015 license tabs. Because that bill arrived the same week I was in labor, and I guess we just realized what fell through the cracks. So that sucked. But, on the plus side, I had my hair colored and that was AWESOME. Slowly (very slowly) I'm getting back to my old self again. So first, just a reminder that the Rock'n'Roll photo show that I'm a part of is happening Friday night and I'd love to see you there. And second? I have two internet shares for you today. The first are these AMAZING photos of Detroit in the 1940s. Go look at that. Seriously. What? Too cerebral for you? Fine. Here's the trailer for the next season of House of Cards. That oughta intrigue you.

lunch at lola
0113lolasm.jpg

0113lolasmEzra and I had lunch today with my dear friend Gigi over at Pizzeria Lola (YUM). One of my favorite things about this spot (other than their amazing pizza, obviously) is the photo booth! People take photos in the booth and then post a copy on the wall. I looooove looking through these photos and seeing other people's memories. Such a fun glimpse into other people's lives! Also, should you be wondering, the Boise is my favorite pizza there. Those onions are phenomenal. For your internet share today, check out this dog that rides the bus BY HERSELF to the dog park. Jamie found this story and I adore it. Magda could totally do this, but I feel like she'd leave the bus carrying some poor commuter's shoe with her.

somewhere over nebraska
nebraska0109sm.jpg

nebraska0109smThis is the view of Nebraska from our plane today on our way to Wichita. Everything was covered in white snow, and it looked like crinkled paper to me -- quite lovely.Ezra was a CHAMP on the airplane and holy buckets let's hope he's the same on the way back home.I am completely worn out from the travels, but I'm gonna give you a silly kids joke for your internet share of the day. Because it's Friday. Enjoy it here.

yup, that's the bride
43.jpg

43That photo up there is of last week's bride after she dove from the stage into the dance floor, where they caught her and she began to crowd surf. At the wedding reception. Was this the perfect couple for me to shoot OR WHAT? And, by the way, that's her reception dress (she changed into it before the dancing began).I really wanted to photograph the amazingly beautiful snowfall that we got today in Minneapolis, but the spawn refused to nap so I couldn't head out into the elements. And a shot from the window seemed like a cheat. So you get this instead! For your internet share of the day, I'm gonna show you a new artist (to me) that I would hire in a millisecond if I were still an art director looking for unique illustrators. Beautiful, beautiful work.

a bit chilly
0107frozensm.jpg

0107frozensmToday the high in Minneapolis was five below zero. That up there is my bird bath. I bought that contraption on the right this summer to keep the bath thawed during winter so the birds would still have access to water. As you can see, this little heater is barely holding its ground! The freeze just keeps moving toward it bit by bit!Honestly though? I went out for my first haircut since August today (no cold weather could keep me from THAT) and I didn't think it felt that bad out. Now that said, once the sun goes down I do believe it will be brutal. It's about 12 below zero as I type this. For my internet share today, I'm gonna warm you up with laughter. Watch Jimmy Fallon's face as he learns he missed his chance to date Nicole Kidman. Priceless.
