So many gorgeous views along the highway on our way back to the city yesterday. I just love the varied color palettes that you find in the nature of California.Tomorrow? Back home.
Last night, Jamie and I dragged our youngest niece and nephew (ok, ok, they were happy to come!) out to the beach to see the Milky Way. This was shot around 10 pm, but the moon was super small last night (just a sliver of light) and it set at 9:30, so I knew it would be super dark. And man, was I right. I was glad I had so many people with me because that right there was perfect axe-murderer conditions. But we all survived and got the shot! And it was so lovely out. There are still things I wish were better about this image (sharper focus, reflection on the water etc etc), but I was so happy to see so much color and variation in the stars. After shooting the sky, I showed the kids how to paint with light, and we quickly made the image below before heading back.I hope you all are having a fantastic Labor Day Weekend!
Well, I'm still working on my milky way photos. We are staying in Northern California right now, and you could see the galaxy with your bare eyes last night, so I thought I'd snap some photos. You can see some clouds (or fog) rolling in, so the images weren't as clear as I'd hoped, but I'll head back out tonight. No internet shares -- too busy enjoying all the nature. Have a great weekend!
Poor Magda finally got a nice, long walk this morning, and I brought my camera to snap a few photos of flowers along the way. My neighborhood is filled with fantastic gardens, and I love seeing them change in the morning light. Enjoy!
Note: I'm heading away from the office for the next few days, so I won't be posting as regularly. You'll still get updates, but not daily. Don't fret! I promise I won't disappoint! And for your internet shares of the day:+ Did you hear about this reindeer herd? So sad.+ Dorm rooms these days are ridiculous.+ These are the "hippiest" towns in each state. Kinda fun to see how many I've visited...
Well, I never made it back out with my macro lens (yet, anyway!), but I did capture these beauties while doing a family shoot out at a mini golf course last weekend! Aren't they lovely? I adore that color of orange (obviously).I might yet make it out on a photo walk with the ever-trusty Magda this week now that my schedule has calmed down a bit. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I have some pretty great internet shares today!+ These photos of a bear in the woods in Russia will blow you away. Seriously, you need to see them.+ Five women tried on 10 pairs of jeans and show you which ones were the best. I love shopping guides like this.+ Just guess who is using 3D models of the clitoris in their sex eds class in school. The French, of course!+ Some really great parenting tips.
How cute is this pup?! His name is Watson, and oh how I adore this guy.I had a rare (and amazing) shoot this week with Watson's family. What made it rare? It was a family shoot in their home to capture them in their normal, happy state. They wanted photos of Watson mainly (as you would), and some of them (his parents) as well. And this is only unusual in that, essentially, this was a kid shoot. But with a dog.See, most people want me to photograph their dogs, but not them. They love the simple, studio photos (and I do as well!), but this shoot was more about the interaction and the love that these three have for each other. It was so fun and lovely and I had such a blast. We played all of Watson's favorite games and we gave him his favorite treats and it was just fantastic.I have a few more shots below to share with you guys. I hope you love them as much as I do.
For your internet shares of the day:+ We'll be able to tour Paisley Park soon! While I am still upset that Prince is no longer with us, I am pretty damn excited for this.+ You better believe I'm gonna pour me a big glass of wine and watch this biopic on Britney. And I'll probably invite this lady over.+ Someone in the GOP is in some hot water over this I bet.
I don't know if it's all the rain or the humidity or the warmth (or all of it), but our neighborhood is just full of mushrooms these days. Every yard has some sort of fungus growing in it, and I'm fascinated by them.I shot these last weekend at the park, but I've noticed so much more. If I had more time this week, I'd head out with my macro lens and get more detail. Maybe I can do that this weekend... we'll see. But for now, I wanted to share these beauties!
For your internet shares of the day:+ Talk about a dreamy place to retire.+ And people are so creative. This "knitting" is phenomenal.
Were you that cool in high school? Let me tell you: I was not. Her hair is so dang rad.Monday night I was hired by The Walker to photograph their Music and Movies in the park, and Bruise Violet was playing. I've been itching to see these ladies live for a long time, and man was it fun. They even covered Beyoncé! While I was pretty tired from the long day, it was a crisp and breezy evening, and a wonderful night to sit outside and enjoy some local talent. For your internet share of the day, here are the last of the Olympics photos. While I wasn't really as into the games this year, I always love the photos, and the first one in this set bent my mind (you'll know when you see it).
