So last Friday, I got to do a shoot with this local company, Adventures in Cardboard. You guys, it is businesses like this that make me so happy to be a parent right now! You better believe Ezra is going to cardboard camp as soon as he's old enough!Wait, are you confused? Did you not click on the link? This company builds mazes and castles and costumes and swords and shields and such out of old cardboard. They use appliance boxes, and their creations are AMAZING. They push kids to get creative, and the kids help build the mazes and their own costumes and then they let loose and play. Seriously, check out this website. I would have loved this camp as a kid.For your internet shares of the day, I was fascinated by which presidential campaigns are actually paying the women equally to the men. And I'm also interested in this movie featuring Barkhad Abdi, the Minnesotan Oscar nominee from Captain Phillips a few years back.Ok. That's all. Now get back to the NCAA tournament!
Today we wrapped up a shoot over at Shelter Studios, and we had all kinds of fun props again. Antiques! Bike gear! Knitting needles! Lemonade! It was a fun one. Here are a few behind the scenes shots, including one of me that my buddy Tim took. Enjoy!
For your internet share of the day, I'm linking to this story my guy Eric (one of the most fanatic sneaker-heads I know) wrote about his cheating on Nike with Adidas. I, too, have always loved my Nikes, but my physical therapist insisted I get something with more support and better fit to help heal my calf tear from last summer. I landed on a pair of Adidas Boost because the fit was much better for my narrow foot. You guys, these are the most comfortable shoes ever (for me). So now I, too, am cheating on Nike. Maybe you will as well...
Happy Tuesday! This photo was taken this weekend during one of my family shoots down at the Stone Arch Bridge. I was actually photographing the, you know, family, when I just started to take in the clouds instead. So I asked them all to just duck down for one shot, and this is what I got. So lovely. (Don't worry, I fixed the settings back so their faces were perfectly lit in the next frame).Today and tomorrow I'm doing full-day shoots for Scotch again, so it's mostly studio set-ups, and I find these day-to-day shots to be more beautiful. But maybe tomorrow you can see some of our behind-the-scenes set magic. For your internet share of the day, ever wonder what Obama carries in his pockets? Wonder no more.
This morning, I rushed over to the hospital to take photos of the wonderful (and brand new!) Jules Connelly for my buddies Stacy and Carl. He looks EXACTLY like his brother, which is awesome. Then I ran around town like a madwoman, dashing from one meeting to the next and the next and the next, and as I write this I've just arrived home and am outside with Magda attempting to get her to stop paying attention to all the baby squirrels and poop already!(She's still watching the squirrels.)And then, in about an hour or so, Jamie and I are heading out to see Mr. Hannibal Buress perform! I saw Hannibal a few years back when he opened up for Dessa at the 7th Street Entry, and my face might still hurt from all the smiling. I cannot wait to see him again tonight! If you don't know who he is, here you go. And that's gonna have to count for my internet share today because, needless to say, I haven't been online much lately. Enjoy!
My amazing friend Leah is getting closer to having her baby, and I had to miss her shower a few weeks back because I was sick as a dog and wasn't about to spread my disease onto a pregnant woman. But I was so, so sad to miss her celebration. And so today, we finally got together and I was able to drop off presents and hand-me-downs and extra diapers and advice etc etc etc. And I might have snapped a few photos of her beautiful belly and her amazing dog, Diggs. She is gonna be such an amazing mom. I just cannot wait! For your internet shares of the day, I loved this modern romance story, these cartoons are fantastic, I want to make this cake, and my buddy Margaret says this is a 100% winner when it comes to falling asleep fast and easy each night. Happy Wednesday, y'all!
This photo doesn't look that remarkable. Just a mom and her sweet daughter enjoying a kiss. But this photo is so hard for me to capture! I was so happy when I saw this in my edit, because while I take a million photos of kids kissing their parents and each other, it often just looks like the kids are hugging or smushing their faces into the other person's face. You can hardly ever see the actual mouth puckering, and, frankly, most kids don't even know how to kiss.Or at least mine doesn't. He opens his mouth wide and then sort of sets his lips onto your face. We have miles to go if he ever wants a second date. Also? I love how blissed out this mom looks. Anyway, this was one of my favorite shots from this weekend. This little girl is a month older than Ez, and this was our third session -- that's every six months! It's so fun to see her growing up!Ok, for your internet shares of the day, I am loving this fun new song by Lizzo. You have to get through the intro (blerg), but I sure love that song. And these photos from Hong Kong are breathtaking. Enjoy!
Holy moly! Every day around here is a new adventure! Some days it's sunny, all the snow has melted and we're taking evening walks. The next day? This. So much pretty snow! The best thing about this snow? It should melt tomorrow, so there's no need to shovel!I ran outside and shot a ton of photos in today's snow, but my favorite image was this one taken from our driveway. It's not the composition or anything, but rather that the snowfall was heaviest at this point, and I love seeing this many flakes in one frame. For your internet share of the day:I aspire to this. Especially the hair. And this 11-year-old is wowing me.And I made this for dinner last night and totally knocked my husband's socks off and you should make it, too.And by the way? Now the sun is out. Spring! Crazy!
And we're back! Holy crap, does it feel good to (sometimes) breathe out of my nose again! You guys, that was some nasty, nasty sickness we were dealing with this week. Magda up there is the only one not on any medication right now, and she's pretty antsy to get back outside walking soon. Hopefully I can help her out with that this weekend.I am so sorry to have had to take the break from blogging, but I am feeling so, so much better -- I really needed some serious time away from the computer and to heal up, sleep, and take the medicines that the doctor prescribed. While physically I am feeling so much better than I was this past weekend (like, 1000% better), I still am not at full force, meaning we are all a little stir crazy around the house. Especially Magda. But we'll get back to normal soon (I hope). For your internet shares of the day! Oh, this first one is good.Do you know what's in the gift bags at the Oscars? Besides the chapstick? How about a "Vampire Breast Lift"? Or a 10-day trip to Israel? Wowza.Another piece I read discussed the five things you can't live without in your kitchen. What would your's be? I think mine would be... 1. Eggs 2. Avocado 3. Chicken broth 4. Frozen green beans and 5. Onions. Not that you could combine those things... but I feel like they play such a big part in almost every recipe! If I could have a 6th, it would be a rotisserie chicken. And lastly, how about these radioactive reindeer (also my next band name)? Lovely photos. Couldn't eat them though!
