Tonight we went to see Monsters of Folk play at the Orpheum. I wasn’t sure how excited to be for this show. It featured two of my favorite artists (Conor Oberst and M. Ward), but the tickets were way more than what we normally pay for a show. And I had to get them through Ticketmaster, which I despise. And I think the album is good. But not great. So I went into this show not sure if I was gonna be happy or not.
But man, I was thrilled. Not only did M. Ward blow me away with his mad guitar skillz again (and again and again), but they played a bunch of vintage Bright Eyes, some of which I had never seen live. This made it all worth while. And? They played for about three hours. It was more like a revue where they all played their old stuff as well as the new stuff. It was great. I left a happy, happy girl.
(For non-fans of Monsters of Folk, above is Conor Oberst. You can see more photos here, since I had a hard time narrowing it down.)
