moving on up
Remember back on Monday when I said my day was hard and I needed that cupcake? And that if my week kept going in this direction I would need a much bigger cake? Well lookee here.
One of the (many) reasons this week is so suck-tastic is that a lot of my friends are losing their jobs due to cuts at the paper. Today there were several potlucks around the room for those that are departing, and this cake was brought in for my coworker Ann, who has been at the paper for 42 years and is leaving this week. The stories that woman has... And by the way, this cake is HOME MADE. That's the beauty of working in the features dept. These people know how to BAKE.
Also? The way this week is going, this cake better grow to about 6 times its size to make up for the suckage that is happening in my world. Seriously, let's all send some good juju out there. I need tomorrow to improve.
Sorry to hear about all of the changes at your job. I work in media, too. Cuts like this are all too familiar and never easy. I've been through it several times, both as victim and survivor. Everyone survives, but with a layer of scar tissue holding us together. Good luck dealing with it all and getting through it. Think positive and be positive and good things will happen.
